Brazilian electrician, Jean Charles de Menezes, was shot and killed by police after they had mistakenly assumed he was a terrorist. British police subsequently attempted to cover up the incident by falsely representing the circumstances that led to his shooting, however the police was forced to change their story when the truth was leaked to the press. |

American actor, Wayne McLaren, died at the age of 51. He was known for having portrayed the Marlboro Man in the Marlboro cigarette commercials. He was an avid smoker and died of lung cancer. |

American serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, was arrested after police discovered the remains of 11 males in his Milwaukee apartment. He was subsequently murdered in jail while serving a life sentence. |

American actor, Willem Dafoe, was born in Appleton, Wisconsin. His breakthrough film role was that of the compassionate Sergeant Elias in the critically acclaimed film Platoon. |

The King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which housed the headquarters of the British civil and military administration, was bombed by members of the 'Igrun', killing 90 people. Igrun was a militant Zionist group that operated in Palestine from 1931 to 1948. |
