French inventor, Claude Chappe, died at the age of 42. He was the inventor and facilitator of the optical telegraph.

Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen, was born in Odense, Denmark. He is considered as one of history's most famous storytellers.
October
21st
British admiral, Horatio Nelson, was killed during the naval battle of Trafalgar. He is considered as one of the greatest military heroes of British history and is one of only 5 non-royal blood persons to receive a state funeral.
November
14th
German composer, Fanny Mendelssohn, was born in Hamburg. She was the sister of composer Felix Mendelssohn.
December
23th
American, Joseph Smith, Jr. was born in Vermont. He was the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an influential religious and political force within America.
