In the year 1740

	January 5th	Italian composer, Antonio Lotti, died at the age of 77.
	June 2nd	French author, Marquis de Sade, was born in Paris. He wrote several fictitious and philosophical books during his life time. His writing gave rise to term sadism, mostly due to the violent pornographic content of many of his books. The main concept of his philosophy revolved around the idea that the pursuit of personal pleasure should be the highest principle in ones life.
