This year in history
In the year 1541

	February 12th	The city of Santiago, capital of Chile, was founded by Pedro de Valdivia. Pedro de Valdivia was Spanish conquistador and the first governor of Chile.
	June 26th	Spanish conquistador, Francisco Pizarro, was assassinated in Lima by the son of his former ally, Diego Almagro the younger. Pizarro was the conqueror of the Inca Empire and founder of Lima La Ciudad de los Reyes, capital of Peru.
