Bram Stoker's, landmark novel, Dracula went on sale in London.

British author, Enid Blyton, was born in London. She was a children's books author who became one of the most popular writers in history. Her books have been translated to more than 100 languages.

American inventor, Thomas Edison, was awarded the patent for the Kinetoscope, the first movie projector.

The subway of Boston, Massachusetts opened, it was the first underground metro in North America.

1st
Italian football team Juventus F.C. was founded.

American gangster, Lucky Luciano, was born in the village of Lercara Friddi, Italy. He is one of the most known gangsters of all time, second in notoriety only to Al Capone, although Luciano's impact on the world of organized crime is considered far more significant than capone's ever was.
